Using unsupported software means you won’t receive any further security updates of fixes for vulnerabilities that are discovered. This is normal and, when it comes to Windows, this usually occurs after the product has been available for around 10 years. When a software product reaches the end of its life, the manufacturer stops actively looking after it. If you still use any of these operating systems, take note – hackers and criminals often target unsupported software. Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7 and 8 and will stop supporting Windows 8.1 on 10 January 2023.
